Q&A

Why should I hire an interior designer? If you're feeling dissatisfied with your home decor, struggling with space constraints, or facing lighting issues, hiring a designer can transform your living space. A designer acts as your guide through the entire process, taking the time to understand your preferences and translating them into a personalized design. With their expertise in balancing form and function, they can save you time and money while offering creative solutions to your challenges. Plus, working with a professional means you can visualize changes digitally before making any physical alterations, preventing costly mistakes down the line.

What kind of interior design services do you offer? At House2go, we specialize in residential design, where we thrive on witnessing the transformative impact it has on people's lives. We believe that our homes should be our sanctuary, our safe haven, especially during life's storms. While our primary focus is residential projects, we've also completed some commercial work and are open to discussing whether it aligns with our expertise and vision. No project is too small or too large for us; we handle everything from kitchen and bathroom renovations to entire house makeovers. Ensuring the perfect fit for each client and project is paramount to us, and if we're not the right match, we'll gladly recommend alternative options.
-
What services do you offer other than interior design? In addition to our comprehensive interior design services, which encompass space planning, design conceptualization, and furniture and finishes selection, we also offer home staging and styling. Whether you're preparing to sell or rent your property and want to enhance its appeal, or simply need guidance on how to style your new bookshelf, we're here to assist you every step of the way!
-
Do you specialize in any particular style of interior design? At House2go, versatility is our forte. As you'll see from our portfolio, we seamlessly navigate from farmhouse chic to modern coastal, from minimalist to classic elegance. While each member of our team may have personal design preferences, our ultimate style is driven by our clients' dreams and needs. Drawing from our wealth of experience, we specialize in helping you discover and refine YOUR style. Our priority is to create spaces that are not only comfortable and functional but also reflect your unique personality and lifestyle. When you work with us, you can expect a home design that feels distinctly yours a space that goes beyond mere magazine aesthetics to truly evoke the feeling of 'home'.
-
Do you charge for your first meeting?Absolutely not! Our first consultation is on the house. We see this initial interaction as a friendly introduction a chance for us to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. It's crucial that we're a good match as designers for your project, just as much as you're a good fit as clients for us. During this meeting, we won't delve into the nitty-gritty of design; rather, we'll have an open discussion about your project and gather the essential details to provide you with a tailored design estimate.
-
What is the process to hire House2go?At House2go, we embrace the convenience of remote design. While certain decisions may require in-person meetings, much of the design process can be efficiently managed from afar. Here's how we operate: 1. Initial Consultation: This initial meeting is remotely and allows us to discuss your project and its scope. In person meeting can be arranged depending on your location. 2. Design Proposal: Following our consultation, we'll provide you with a detailed summary and design estimate via email. If any adjustments are necessary to align with your needs, we'll happily accommodate them. 3. Agreement and Deposit: Once we've agreed upon the scope and fees, we'll send you a contract along with the deposit invoice. Upon receipt of the deposit, we'll kick off the design process without delay.
-
What is a typical project like?Once your project kicks off, you'll find yourself in constant communication with us. We believe in seamless collaboration, primarily conducted via email, instant messages, and phone calls. This approach fosters organic communication, enabling us to achieve quicker turnaround times. Typically, we'll share project plans, product selections, and exchange ideas through email for formal review and approval. Additionally, we'll schedule periodic video conferences to touch base and ensure we're aligned every step of the way. Depending on the project's location, one of our designers may conduct a site visit to take measurements and ensure everything is progressing as planned. These visits, whenever feasible, prove invaluable in saving time and ensuring project success in the long run.
-
How long will the design take? While design TV shows may make it seem like everything happens in the blink of an eye, the reality is quite different and we embrace that reality. At House2go, we prioritize the design process and understand the importance of giving it the time it deserves. After all, significant decisions are made during this phase, and rushing through it can lead to oversights and regrets down the line. That's why we recommend planning for a minimum of 25 business days, or approximately 2 months of design time, depending on the project's complexity. During our proposal presentation meeting, we'll discuss the specific timeframe tailored to your unique project needs. If you're in need of a quicker solution, our interior design consultation service might be the perfect fit. Schedule your first meeting with us, and together, we'll determine the best course of action for your project.
-
Can I change my mind after I have approved the design? We understand that preferences can evolve and unexpected considerations may arise. Each phase of our process includes 1 to 2 review opportunities before final approval. However, if changes are requested after the designs have been thoroughly reviewed and approved, it may require additional hours of work from our team, which were not initially factored into the project budget. In such cases, we may need to charge for the additional time invested in accommodating these revisions.
-
How much do you charge? At House2go, we understand that each project is unique, with its own set of requirements and scope. As a result, pricing can vary significantly. Unless you're inquiring about our staging consultation, which has a fixed price listed on our website, we'll need more information about your specific project in order to provide you with an accurate quotation. But don't worry, our first meeting is completely free of charge! It's an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and discuss your project in detail. Our pricing is transparent and tailored to suit different budgets, ensuring that our services are accessible to everyone. So, let's connect and find the perfect solution for your needs!
-
Are you taking me to stores to select furniture for our project?Typically, we don't accompany clients on in-person shopping trips to individual stores. Instead, we provide you with comprehensive information to streamline the process and save you both time and money by opting for online shopping. To ensure you have all the tools you need to make informed decisions, we gather photos, specifications, and product samples, which are then presented in our detailed specification sheets. This allows you to recreate the shopping experience from the comfort of your home. However, if you prefer to see and touch furniture before making a purchase and feel more comfortable with in-person shopping, simply let us know during our initial consultation. We can adjust our estimates accordingly to accommodate additional time for this service. Please note that our in-person shopping service is currently only available in Vancouver, BC.
-
Can I use your services for shopping furniture/fabric/fittings only?Absolutely! We offer consultation services tailored to your specific needs. Whether you require assistance with interior design solutions or simply need guidance in sourcing the perfect items for your home decor, we're here to help. Our consultations can be conducted remotely or in person, depending on your preference.
-
What if my design requirement is outside the location of the House2go studio? Not to worry! If you choose to work with us, you can expect an enjoyable experience during your home renovation or decoration journey. -
Who is responsible for procuring contractors, builders, and other trades? At House2go, we do not have exclusive partnerships with any third-party contractors. If you already have a contractor in mind, we are more than happy to collaborate with them. However, if you need recommendations, we can share trusted contacts from our network to help bring your vision to life.
-
Can a project be started without a contract? No, it cannot. We take our work very seriously at House2go, and all of our services are provided under a signed contract. This ensures that both parties, us and the client, feel secure in working together and that expectations are clearly defined from the outset.
-
How long have you been in the business?House2go was established in 2018, bringing together a team of seasoned professionals with over 16 years of collective experience. Our experts have received top-notch education from reputable institutions around the globe, including BCIT in Canada and UFRJ in Brazil.
-
What are your working hours? Our standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Pacific Time. However, we understand that scheduling flexibility is important, so meetings outside of these hours can be arranged directly with our designers. Rest assured, we always keep our clients informed of any studio closures, such as religious or public holidays, as well as annual leave.
